Realme GT 2 5G Review
Realme GT 2 5G is worth buying as it offers everything that a gaming phone should have from good cameras, dual stereo speakers, and a 120Hz AMOLED display. At Rs 34,999 (or EUR 549), it’s a good smartphone and not an overprice phone.
However, Realme has done some compromises in it to cut the cost of the phone. Let’s go deeper and see what Realme has offered in its Realme GT 2 5G smartphone.
The Realme GT 2 5G features a 6.62-inches FHD+ AMOLED Display with 2400 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, and 120Hz Refresh Rate. The display further has a 92.6% Screen-to-body ratio and 1000Hz Touch Sampling Rate.
The display further has a 1300 nits Peak Brightness, so you will not face any issues while using it outdoors.
Realme has also added Widevine L1 support which means you can stream FHD+ videos on OTT apps like Amazon Prime Videos, Netflix, etc. It also has HDR10+ support which works in almost all the OTT apps, so you will be able to watch HDR content too.
The device has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 Protection on the front and the back panel is made out of bio-polymer while the frame is made out of plastic.
As the device has an AMOLED Display, hence Realme has added an In-Display fingerprint scanner to unlock the device.
Further, Realme did not provide any official IP rating, so don’t dare to use the phone under the water.
Overall, the display quality of the device is great and you will not face any kind of issues.
The Realme GT 2 5G features a triple rear camera setup with an LED flash in the rectangular module that houses a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary lens with f/1.8 aperture that has OIS, an 8MP ultrawide angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP macro lens with f/2.4 aperture.
There is a 16MP Selfie Camera Lens with f/2.5 aperture in the punch-hole design display. The rear camera can record up to 4k videos at 30fps while the front camera can record up to 1080p videos at 30fps.
Considering the price, the videos from the rear cameras come out good with good details and there is also no issue with dynamic range too.
The 50MP primary sensor images do come out well without any issues and have a good dynamic range and natural colors. But sometimes, the device tries to boost the colors which can be fixed via OTA updates but who knows when Realme will fix it.
The 8MP ultrawide sensor also takes some good wide-angle shots under good lighting conditions but it suffers in low lighting or night photography. Also, forget that 2MP sensor as it’s added just for numbers and helps companies in marketing.
Now, the 16MP Selfie camera captures good shots but it tries to boost the colors, and also sometimes it misses out on details. So yes, Realme has done cost-cutting in selfie cameras, they should have provided a better sensor but they didn’t.
Now, if we consider the price then I feel, the cameras are good, but still Realme needs to work on the camera quality a lit bit.
Overall, the cameras of the device are good and not that great, the camera could have been better even now, Realme can improve the camera with updates in the future.
The Realme GT 2 5G is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Processor which is paired with Adreno 660 GPU. It comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 Storage.
The Snapdragon 888 is a powerful processor and it will provide good performance. The device runs on Android 12-based Realme UI 3.0 skin out of the box.
The device also has extended RAM availability. However, the Virtual RAM or extended RAM availability is a gimmick and used only for marketing purposes and has no use in real-life, so forget about that.
Further, even at this price point, you will get some pre-installed apps in the device which can be uninstalled but still, Realme should not have to include them as this is a premium smartphone.
Overall, the performance of the device is good and it will capable of running every single game available on the market without any issues.
The Realme GT 2 5G features a 5,000 mAh Battery with 65W Fast Charging Support. Realme has also included a 65W Charger inside the box of the phone.
Realme has claimed that the 65W charger can fully charge the device from 1 to 100 percent in around 33 minutes.
Overall, the battery of the device is good and it will last for a day but in the end. However, if you are a heavy user then you need to charge the device twice a day, but if you are a normal user, the device will barely last for a day or less.
The Realme GT 2 has dual stereo speakers which gives a good sound experience. It also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone too which helps a lot in calling.
However, the Realme GT 2 5G does not have a 3.5 mm Headphone Jack to plug in your wired earphones.
Overall, the audio quality of the device is good and you will not face any kind of issue with calling as well.
