Realme GT 2 Pro 5G Review
Realme GT 2 Pro 5G has its Pros but Realme has also done some compromises which can be a letdown for some users. Let’s go deeper and see what Realme has offered in its Realme GT 2 Pro 5G smartphone.
With the new Realme GT 2 Pro, Realme is going against Samsung and Apple which is going to be tough, so let’s see in this review, whether you should pay a premium for the Realme Brand or not?
If you are willing to pay 58k for the Realme brand then yes, the Realme GT 2 Pro 5G is worth buying otherwise we have tons of better options from Samsung and even from Apple, so it doesn’t make any sense to pay a premium for the Realme GT 2 Pro as in the same price tag, you will get iPhone 12, Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, and many other top-end devices.
Also, even after paying Rs 58k (or EUR 849.99), you will get bloatware and ads with this device, however, you can uninstall these apps but still, after paying Rs 58k, I don’t think Realme has done well.
Now let’s start the review for those, who can pay Rs 58k for the Realme brand.
The Realme GT 2 Pro features a 6.7-inches WQHD+ LTPO2 AMOLED Display with 3216 x 1440 pixels screen resolution, 120Hz Refresh Rate, and has a 10-bit color depth that produces up to 1.07 Billion colors.
Here, the device does have a curved display so if you like that 3D curved kind of display then you will not be happy with the latest Realme GT 2 Pro.
The display further has a 1000Hz Instant Touch Sampling Rate, 1400 nits Peak Brightness, HDR10+ support, and 92.6% Screen-to-body ratio. The display is bright enough to use outdoors.
The smartphone also has Widevine L1 support which means you can play FHD+ content on OTT apps like Amazon Prime Videos and Netflix. Realme has also added HDR10+ support and it does work in almost all the OTT apps, so you will be able to watch HDR content too.
The device has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Protection on the front side and the back panel is made out of bio-polymer while the frame is made out of aluminum. It also has an In-Display fingerprint scanner.
Also, Realme did not provide any official IP rating, so don’t dare to use this phone under the water.
Overall, the device has a great display and you will not face any problems while watching content, playing games, or even performing day-to-day tasks.
The Realme GT 2 Pro 5G features a triple rear camera setup with an LED Flash in the rectangular module that houses a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture that has Optical Image Stabilization.
The rear camera is also paired with a 50MP ultrawide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture that has a 150-degree field-of-view, and a 2MP microscope sensor with an f/3.3 aperture.
There is a 32MP Sony IMX615 Selfie Camera Lens with f/2.4 aperture in the punch-hole design display. The rear camera can record up to 8k videos at 24fps while the rear camera can record up to 1080p videos at 30fps which is a huge letdown as this is a premium device and not a budge phone.
We have the same primary sensor in many devices, so there will not face any kind of issue when taking videos, the footage will come out stable even with 4k resolution too. Now of course when it comes to 8k, the videos do not come out smooth, there is some shakiness here and there.
The 50MP primary sensor takes some good shots, and the details come out well but sometimes it boosts the color of the pictures.
Realme has also added a new 50MP ultrawide sensor which give about 150-degree wide-angle shots. Now, the problem with this new sensor is the details under the low light. The sensor tries to over-expose the images at night.
By the way, under good lights, the ultrawide sensors take some good wide-angle shots, and the details are also great, the only issue is with night ultra-wide shots.
Now, forget that 2MP microscope sensor, it’s added just for numbers and has no use in the real life.
Overall, considering the price of the device, Realme needs to work on the camera to just the price of the device.
Now, for those who want better cameras at the same, you can consider the iPhone 12 or even Galaxy S21 FE 5G.
The Realme GT 2 Pro is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Processor which is paired with Adreno 730 GPU. It comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 Storage.
The device runs on Android 12-based RealmeUI 3.0 skin out of the box. Realme has also promised to provide 3 OS updates and 4 years of security updates which is a good thing.
Now, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC heats up in the thermal testing, however, this heating issue is not the problem of smartphones, it’s a chipset issue but in real life, the phone does not heat too much even while playing high-end games.
Even at this price point, you will get some pre-installed apps in the device which can be uninstalled but still, Realme should not have to include them as this is a premium smartphone.
The device is 5G supportive and has 13 5G bands which include n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28, n38, n40, n41, n66, n77, and n78.
That was it, the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 is a powerful processor and it will give the best possible performance, and there you will not face any kind of issues.
Realme GT 2 Pro packs a 5,000 mAh Battery with 65W Fast Charging Support. Realme has included the charger inside the box.
Here, Realme should have provided the wireless charging support but they didn’t which is not acceptable as this is a premium smartphone.
Further, Realme has claimed that the 65W charger can fully charge the device from 1 to 100 percent in around 33 minutes.
Overall, the battery of the device is good and it will last for a day but in the end, it will depend on how you use the smartphone in day-to-day life.
The smartphone has dual stereo speakers which gives a good audio output. It also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone too which helps a lot in calling.
As this is a premium smartphone, it does not have a 3.5 mm Headphone Jack, so if you are that person who uses wired earphones then you have to buy a type-C to 3.5 mm dongle or you have to use wireless earphones.
Overall, the device has a good audio quality and you will not face any kind of issue with calling as well.
