Realme 9i 5G Review

Realme 9i 5G has its Pros but the brand has done many compromises in the phone smartphone which can be a huge letdown for many users.

Also, Realme 9i 5G is worth buying if you only want a Realme smartphone otherwise you can skip this phone as considering the price, it’s not up to the mark and it’s an overpriced phone.

Let’s go deeper and see what Realme has offered in its Realme 9i 5G handset.

The device has a 6.6-inches FHD+ IPS LCD Display with 2408 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, 90Hz Refresh Rate, and 180Hz Touch Sampling Rate. It further has a 90.4% Screen-to-body ratio and 400 nits Brightness.

The phone also has Widevine L1 support which means you can play FHD+ content on OTT apps like Amazon Prime Videos and Netflix.

The device has glass protection on the front, while the frame and back panel of the phone are made out of plastic. However, Realme has disclosed which glass protection they have used on the front.

As the device has an IPS LCD Panel, hence it has a Side-mounted fingerprint scanner by which you can unlock the device using fingerprints.

Now, Realme should have provided the AMOLED panel but they didn’t, they went with a 90Hz IPS LCD Panel which is not good considering the price.

Overall, we can say that the phone has a good display and is not great at this price point.

The Realme 9i 5G has a triple rear camera setup that houses a 50MP primary lens with f/1.8 aperture, a 2MP portrait lens with f/2.4 aperture, and a 2MP macro lens with f/2.4 aperture.

There is an 8MP Selfie Camera Lens with f/2.0 aperture in the waterdrop notch design display. Both the front and rear cameras can record up to 1080p videos at 30fps.

The 50MP primary sensor takes some good shots with good detailing and there are also no dynamic range issues too. However, the primary camera suffers in the low lighting or at night, and sometimes it also losses details.

Also, forget that 2MP+2MP sensors as it was added just for numbers and have no use in the real life. Here, Realme should have included an ultrawide angle sensor but they didn’t, they went with a 2MP sensor which is not acceptable considering the price.

Coming to the selfies, the 8MP sensor takes some decent photos but it’s not that great. Here, Realme should have at least provided a 13MP or 16MP selfie camera but they didn’t, they went with 8MP only which is not good compared to what other brands are offering at the same price. Also, they need to optimize the selfie camera.

Overall, only the primary camera of the phone is good and the rest are not okay and does not justify the pricing of the phone. So, if you are looking for a camera-centric device, you can skip this phone.

The Realme 9i 5G features an octa-core Mediatek Dimensity 810 Processor which is coupled with Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU for graphics. The device runs on Android 12-based RealmeUI 3.0 skin out of the box.

It comes with up to 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 Storage. There is also a dedicated SD card slot for storage expansion of up to 1TB.

The phone also has extended RAM availability. However, the Virtual RAM feature is a gimmick and it’s used only for marketing purposes and has no use in real-life, so forget about that.

Coming to the performance, the chipset of the phone is good but Realme should have provided a great Snapdragon Processor instead of a good chipset.

However, the Mediatek Dimensity 810 is a powerful processor and can run every single game available in the market without any issue, you will also not face any issues in the day-to-day tasks but at this price point, the performance is compromised.

Overall, the performance of the device is decent and you will face any kind of issues.

The device packs a 5,000 mAh Battery with 18W Fast Charging Support. Realme has also provided an 18W Charger in the box.

If you are a heavy user who plays a lot of games then you need to charge the device twice a day, but if you are a normal user, it will last for a day.

Overall, the battery of the phone is decent but Realme should have included 33W Charging support at least.

The phone does not have stereo speakers, instead of that, Realme has provided a single speaker on the bottom side without any stereo support.

It has a 3.5 mm Headphone Jack which means you can plug your wired earphones or headphones without any issues.

Overall, the phone has a good audio quality and it’s not the best considering the price.
