Realme 9 5G Review
Realme 9 5G has its Pros from Mediatek Dimensity 810 Processor to 90Hz Refresh Rate but Realme has done some compromises by providing 5G connectivity on it which can be a huge letdown for some users who are not looking just for a 5G smartphone.
Let’s go deeper and see what Realme has offered in its Realme 9 5G smartphone.
Display
The Realme 9 5G features a 6.5-inches FHD+ LTPS LCD Display with 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution, 90Hz Refresh Rate, and 180Hz Touch Sampling Rate. The device further has a 20:9 Aspect Ratio, 90.5% Screen-to-body ratio, and 600 nits Peak Brightness.
The device has Panda Glass Protection on the top while the back and frame are made out of plastic.
Here, Realme should provide an AMOLED Panel but they didn’t, instead of that Realme went with an LTPS LCD Display. So, yes Realme has done cost-cutting in that.
Further, Realme has added the support for Widevine L1 which means you will be able to watch FHD+ videos on OTT apps like Netflix.

There is nothing wrong with the LCD panel but this time, it looks like, the display quality has been compromised.
When you are using a smartphone facing yourself, the display looks amazing, the colors are also good but when you see the display from the side or when tilt the display bit, the colors fade out a little bit.
Also, most of the LCD panels do the same thing but somehow, Realme 9 5G’s display viewing angle is not that great.
Now, a normal user will not notice this issue but if you are that person who wants the best display then this is not the best smartphone to go with.
Overall, the Realme 9 5G has a good quality display and is not the best display at this price point. If you want an AMOLED display then you can also take look at other smartphones.
Cameras
The device has also compromised in the camera department and that’s the reason why the smartphone is priced at Rs 15k.
The smartphone features a 48MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 2MP portrait sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and a 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture.
There is a 16MP Selfie Camera Lens with f/2.1 aperture in the punch-hole design display. Both the front and rear cameras can record up to 1080p videos at 30fps.
The device does not support OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), so it relies on EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization).
Just like any other budget Realme smartphone, the video quality of the Realme 9 5G is not that great, Realme tries to boost the colors and in between, it losses out on details.
The selfie camera clicks some good shots and the images will come out more white.

The 48MP primary sensor captures good shots but sometimes it’s not even useable. Also, there are some issues with the dynamic range.
Now, forget those 2MP+2MP sensors as they are added just for numbers and help companies in marketing.
Overall, Realme 9 5G has average cameras and one should not buy this smartphone for a camera, it’s a good smartphone for gaming only at a good price, nothing else.
Performance
The Realme 9 5G is powered by an octa-core Mediatek Dimensity 810 Processor coupled with Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. It comes with up to 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.1 Storage.
There is also a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion of up to 1TB.
The device runs on Android 11-based RealmeUI 2.0 skin out of the box. Now, Realme should have provided the Android 12 OS out of the box but they didn’t, instead of that they went with Android 11.
The Realme 9 5G is 5G supportive and has five 5G bands including n1, n28A, n41, nn77, and n78.

The smartphone also has extended RAM or Virtual RAM availability. However, the extended RAM is a gimmick and used only for marketing purposes and has no use in real-life, so forget about that.
Overall, the processor is powerful, so there will not be any issues while playing games or even using smartphones in day-to-day life.
Battery
The Realme 9 5G packs a 5,000 mAh Battery with 18W Fast Charging Support. Realme has also provided an 18W Charger in the box.
Overall, the battery should last for the day because of the processor but in the end, it depends on you, how you use your device every day.
If you are a heavy user then you need to charge the device two times a day, but if you are a normal user, the device will last for a day without any problem.
Audio
The Realme 9 5G does not have dual stereo speakers, instead of that, it has a single speaker at the bottom.
Also, the device does not have a secondary noise-cancellation microphone, so another person on the call might have a problem hearing your voice during the call.
However, the device has a 3.5 mm Headphone Jack to plug your wired earphones or headphones. Overall, the audio quality and the call quality are decent and not the best at this price point.
