Poco M4 Pro 5G Review
Poco M4 Pro 5G is worth buying but Poco has done some compromises by providing 5G connectivity on it which can be a huge letdown for some users who are not looking just for a 5G smartphone.
The device has an IPS LCD display, cameras are also decent. Overall, the Poco M4 Pro is a good device that could have been great.
Also, the MIUI is not well-optimized, sometimes, you will see frame drops here and there on the device. Again, Xiaomi went with an LCD instant of AMOLED which is not a good thing.
Overall, I would recommend you to skip this device if you are not looking for a 5G device but if you are ready with 15k money and want a 5G phone you can definitely go for it as it offers better specifications than its competition.
Display
This smartphone comes with a 6.6-inches FHD+ IPS LCD Display with a screen resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, 90Hz Refresh Rate, and 240Hz Touch Sampling Rate. The display further has a 20:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection on the top.
Now, we have seen LCD display on Poco smartphones but this is a Rs 15k (~USD 200) smartphone and it should have come with an AMOLED display but it didn’t, Poco went with an IPS LCD Display.
There is nothing wrong with the LCD displays but this time when brands are providing AMOLED screens, it looks like, the display quality of the device has been compromised.

When you are using a smartphone that has LCD Display facing yourself, the display looks amazing, the colors of content also look good but when you see it from the side or tilt the display of the device, the colors fade out a little bit.
Now, a normal user will not notice these issues or problems but if you are that user who wants the best display then this is not the best smartphone to go with. Also, when you pay Rs 15k, one should get a great display and not a good one.
Also, the device has a polycarbonate plastic back and the phone frames are also made out of plastic.
Overall, the Poco M4 Pro 5G has a good quality display and is not the best display under Rs 15,000. So, if you want a phone with an AMOLED display then you can also take look at Redmi Note 11S or consider any other smartphone.
Cameras
The device features a 50MP Dual Rear Camera setup with an LED Flash in the rectangular module. It has a 50MP primary lens with an f/1.8 aperture and an 8MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture that has a 118-degree field of view.
There is a 16MP Selfie Camera lens with an f/2.45 aperture in the punch-hole design display. The rear camera can record up to 1080p videos at 60fps (frames per second) while the front camera can record up to 1080p videos at 30fps.
The device does not have OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) but it has EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) which uses the software for stabilization.
Poco did not add any 2MP depth + 2MP macro sensors on the device which is a good thing as they don’t have many uses for the users.

The company has used a Samsung sensor and this is a large 50MP lens but Poco has not taken advantage of this bigger sensor and has not optimized the cameras as the images got softer while processing.
The images of the rear camera boost the colors which could be good for most of the users but it will be a big disappointment for those who like natural colors. This also applies to the front camera as it also boosts the colors of images.
Performance
The device is powered by an octa-core Mediatek Dimensity 810 Processor which is coupled with Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. It comes with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 Storage.
The device also has extended RAM availability, which provides the 4GB or 6GB or 8GB RAM model with 3GB additional Virtual or extended RAM.
The 3GB extended RAM effect allows one to maximize their device’s potential and run apps faster. According to Poco, this extended RAM technology can use 3GB of internal storage to keep more apps open in memory at the same time.
It runs on Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 skin out of the box and it will get the MIUI 13 and Android 12 update soon.

The smartphone is 5G supports and has seven 5G bands that are n1, n3, n5, n8, n28, n40, and n78.
The processor used in this device is capable of handling every single game without any problem but MIUI has some bugs that will freeze the display for a micro-second while switching between apps or opening the notification panel.
Overall, the device is good for gaming but the company still needs to fix some bugs or glitches for a smooth experience.
Battery Life
The device packs a 5000 mAh Battery with 33W Fast Charging support and Poco has also included a 33W charger inside the box of the device.
The company has claimed that this charger can fully charge the device in just 60 minutes from 0 to 100 percent.
However, the battery life of the device varies from user to user. If the user is playing games then he or she needs to charge the device two times a day, but if you are a normal user, the device will last for a day or even more.
Audio
The device has dual stereo speakers which is what Poco or Xiaomi is known for on all the devices, so basically it’s good to point. It also has a 3.5 mm Headphone to plug your wired earphones or headphones.
The Poco M4 Pro 5G also has an IR Blaster on the top of the display which can be used to control your devices like TV, AC, Set Top Box, and other products.
It also has two microphones which will help users a lot in calling. So, Poco has done a good job in the audio department.
