Oppo A96 4G Review
Oppo A96 4G has its Pros but Oppo has also done many compromises on it which can be a letdown for most of the users. Let’s go deeper and see what Oppo has offered in its Oppo A96 4G smartphone.
Display
The Oppo A96 4G features a 6.59-inches FHD+ LTPS LCD Display with 2412 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, 90Hz Refresh Rate, and 180Hz Touch Sampling Rate. The display further has 600 nits Peak Brightness and a 90.8% Screen-to-body ratio.
Here, Oppo should have provided an AMOLED Panel but they didn’t, instead of that Oppo went with an LTPS LCD Display. So, yes Oppo has done cost-cutting in that.
There is nothing wrong with the LCD panel but this time, it looks like, the display quality has been compromised.
The front of the device has Panda Glass Protection while the backside and frame are made out of plastic.

The phone has Widevine L1 support which means you are able to watch FHD+ content on OTT apps like Amazon Prime Videos and Netflix.
Overall, the Oppo A96 4G has a good quality display and is not the best display at this price point. If you want an AMOLED display then you can also take look at other phones available in the market.
Camera
The Oppo A96 4G features a 50MP Dual Rear Camera Setup with an LED Flash in the rectangular module. The cameras consist of a 50MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP bokeh sensor with f/2.4 aperture.
There is a 16MP Selfie Camera Lens with f/2.0 aperture in the punch-hole design display. Both the rear and front cameras can record up to 1080p videos at 30fps. Here, the device is also compromised in the camera department.
The smartphone does not support OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), so it relies on EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization).
Just like any other budget Oppo smartphone, the video quality of the Oppo A96 is not that great, Oppo tries to boost the colors and in between, it losses out on details.
The selfie camera of the phone clicks some good shots but the images come out more white.

The 50MP primary sensor captures good shots but sometimes it’s not even useable. Also, there are some issues with the dynamic range.
Now, forget that 2MP sensors as it is added just for numbers and only helps companies in marketing.
Overall, Oppo A96 4G has average cameras and one should not buy this smartphone for a camera.
Performance
The Oppo A96 4G is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 Processor coupled with Adreno 610 GPU. It comes with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 Storage.
Here, the device is also compromised in the performance department. Oppo should have provided a better chipset but they didn’t, they went with Snapdragon 680 which other brands are providing at half the price of Oppo A96.
The device runs on Android 11-based ColorOS 11.1 skin out of the box. Here, Oppo should have provided the Android 12 OS out of the box but they didn’t, instead of that they went with Android 11.

The smartphone also has extended RAM or Virtual RAM availability. However, the extended RAM is a gimmick and used only for marketing purposes and has no use in real-life, so forget about that.
However, the processor is good and you will not face any issues with that. Again, the device does not have 5G support, you will be stuck with 4G.
Overall, the performance of the device is good but if you are a gamer then I don’t recommend this smartphone because you can get this same chipset at a lower price.
Battery
The device packs a 5,000 mAh Battery with 33W Fast Charging Support. Oppo has also provided a 33W Charger inside the box of the device.
Overall, the battery of the phone should last for a day because of the processor but in the end, it depends on you, how you use your device every day.
If you are a heavy user then you need to charge the device twice, but if you are a normal user, it will last for a day without any problem.
Audio
The Oppo A96 4G has dual speakers which will give you a better sound experience. The phone also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone which will help you during calls.
The device also has a 3.5 mm Headphone Jack to plug your wired earphones or headphones without any issues.
Overall, Oppo has done a good job in the audio department and you will not face any issues with it.
