iQOO 9 Pro 5G Review
iQOO 9 Pro 5G has its Pros but iQOO has done some compromises which can be a letdown for some users. Let’s go deeper and see what iQOO has offered in its iQOO 9 Pro 5G smartphone.
The iQOO 9 Pro 5G is a solid smartphone but the main issue here is most people will not pay Rs 65k for the iQOO brand even after it has great features from camera to processor.
Also, even after paying Rs 65k, you will get bloatware and ads with this device, however, you can uninstall these apps but still, after paying Rs 65k, I don’t think iQOO has done well.
Now let’s start the review for those, who can pay Rs 65k for the IQOO brand.
The iQOO 9 Pro 5G features a 6.78-inches 2k LTPO E5 AMOLED Curved Display with a screen resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels, 120Hz Refresh Rate, and 300Hz Touch Sampling Rate.
The display further has a 1000Hz Instant Touch Sampling Rate, 1500 nits Peak Brightness, HDR10+ support, and a 10-bit color depth that produces 1.07 Billion possible colors.
The iQOO 9 Pro 5G also has Widevine L1 support which means you can play FHD+ content on OTT apps like Amazon Prime Videos and Netflix.
The device has Panda Glass Protection on the front side and the back panel also has AG glass protection while the frame is made out of aluminum. The smartphone also has a 3D Ultrasonic In-Display fingerprint scanner which has a wider unlocking area and unlocks the device at a faster speed.
Overall, the device has a great display and you will not face any problems while watching content, playing games, or even performing day-to-day tasks.
The iQOO 9 Pro 5G features a 50MP Triple Rear Camera Setup with an LED Flash in the rectangular module. The cameras consist of a 50MP primary sensor with an f/1.75 aperture that has Gimbal OIS.
The device also has a 50MP ultrawide angle sensor with f/2.27 aperture that has a 150-degree field-of-view and has a 16MP telephoto sensor with f/2.23 aperture that has OIS and 2.5x optical zoom.
There is a 16MP Selfie Camera lens with f/2.45 aperture in the center punch-hole design display.
The rear camera can record up to 8k videos at 30fps (frames per second) while the front camera can record up to 4k videos at 30fps.
The phone has a gimbal as well as OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), so you will not face any issues with videos, the images come out smooth and you will not face any issues with dynamic range and colors.
Still, iQOO needs to work on the Gimbal camera, as of now the videos come out good but sometimes, there is shakiness in the videos.
The 50MP primary sensor and 50MP ultrawide sensor take good shots even at night. The OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and gimble also help a lot at night as they remove shakiness. The 13MP telephoto also takes some good shots.
However, there is a 16MP selfie camera which is not enough at this price point and iQOO needs to work on the selfie camera as it does not give the value of a premium smartphone.
Overall, the rear cameras are good and justify the price range but the front camera needs improvement.
The iQOO 9 Pro 5G is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Processor coupled with Adreno 730 GPU. It comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 Storage.
The device runs on Android 12-based FuntouchOS 12 skin out of the box and the device will get two OS updates and three years of security updates.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen1 heats up in the thermal testing, however, this heating issue is not the problem of smartphones, it’s a chipset issue but in real life, the phone does not heat too much even while playing high-end games.
Even at this price point, you will get bloatware in the device which can be uninstalled but still, iQOO should not have to include them as this is a premium smartphone.
The device is 5G supportive and has 12 5G bands which include n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28 n41, n66, n77, n78, and n79.
Overall, the device is fast and gives powerful performance to run every single game available on the market.
The device packs a 4,700 mAh Battery with 120W Wired Fast Charging Support. It also has 50W Wireless and 10W Reverse Wireless Charging Support. iQOO has included a 120W charger inside the box of the device.
iQOO has claimed that the 120W charger can fully charge the device from 0 to 100 percent in around 20 minutes.
Further, make sure to carry the 120W charger if you are a battery drainer, otherwise, you will only be able to charge this phone at 18W with other charges.
The battery life of the device varies from person to person. If a user is playing games then he or she needs to charge the device twice a day, but if you are a normal user, the device will barely last for a day.
The smartphone has dual stereo speakers which give you a better sound experience without any issues. The device also has a dual noise cancellation microphone that helps you in calling.
The iQOO 9 Pro 5G does not have a 3.5 mm Headphone Jack to plug your wired earphones or headphones. So, you will have to use wireless earphones to Type-C to 3.5 mm converter to use wired headphones.
Overall, the audio quality of the device is good and you will not face any issues.
