iQOO 9 5G Review
iQOO 9 5G has its Pros but iQOO has done some compromises which can be a huge letdown for some users. Let’s go deeper and see what iQOO has offered in the iQOO 9 5G smartphone.
The iQOO 9 5G features a 6.56-inches FHD+ AMOLED Display with 2376 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, 120Hz Refresh Rate, and 300Hz Touch Sampling Rate.
The display further has HDR10+ support which also works on Netflix and has a 10-bit color depth that produces 1.07 Billion possible colors and has a 1200 nits Peak Brightness. The brightness of the device is good enough to use outdoors without any problems.
The device also has Widevine L1 support which means you will be able to stream FHD+ content on OTT apps like Amazon Prime Videos and Netflix. The iQOO 9 5G also has an In-Display Fingerprint Scanner which unlocks the device instantly without any issues.
The device has glass on the backside while the frame is made out of aluminum but iQOO has not confirmed which glass protection they have used on the front side.
The display quality of the device is great, there will not be any issue and iQOO has done a great job.
The iQOO 9 5G features a 48MP Triple Rear Camera Setup with an LED Flash in the rectangular module. The cameras consist of a 48MP primary lens with an f/1.79 aperture that has a gimbal.
The primary camera lens is paired with a 13MP ultrawide angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and has a 13MP portrait lens with f/2.46 aperture that has 2x optical zoom. There is a 16MP Selfie Camera lens in the punch-hole design display with an f/2.45 aperture.
The rear camera can record up to 4k videos at 30fps (frames per second) while the front camera can record up to 1080p videos at 30fps.
The camera does have a gimbal but if we place the gimble aside, the videos do come with good details and there is no issue with dynamic range too. Still, if iQOO is marketing this smartphone as a Gimble camera then they should provide a proper one.
The images come out without any issues with good dynamic range and natural colors. Now, if we consider the price then I feel, the cameras are not that great, iQOO needs to improve the camera quality.
Overall, iQOO has done a decent job in the camera department, the camera could have been better even now, iQOO can improve the camera with updates but who knows or if they improve it or not.
When it comes to performance, the device is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ Processor coupled with Adreno 660 GPU. It comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 Internal Storage.
This is a powerful processor and it will give the best possible performance in day-to-day life. The device runs on Android 12-based FuntouchOS 12 skin out of the box. iQOO has promised to provide two years of OS updates and three years of security updates.
Now, many people do not like the FuntouchOS as it has ads on the UI and comes with tons of pre-installed apps. However, it is the user’s preference, so your experience might be different.
The device is 5G supportive and has eight 5G bands which include n1, n3, n5, n8, n28A, n41, n77, and n78. Overall, users will get the best performance at this price point.
The smartphone has dual stereo speakers which give you a better audio quality output. It also has a dual noise cancellation microphone which helps you during the calls.
However, the iQOO 9 5G does not have a 3.5 mm Headphone Jack to plug in your wired earphones or headphones.
Overall, the sound quality of the device is good and there are no issues with call quality too.
The device packs a 4,350 mAh Battery with 120W Fast Charging Support. iQOO has also included a 120W Charger inside the box. This charger can charge the device from 0 to 100 percent in around 20 minutes.
Here, iQOO should have included at least a 5,000 mAh Battery but they didn’t, instead of that they went with 4,350 mAh.
However, the battery life of the device varies from user to user. If a user is playing games then he or she needs to charge the device twice a day, but if you are a normal user, the device will barely last for a day.
Further, if you are a heavy user then make sure to carry the 120W charger otherwise you will only be able to charge this device at 18W with other chargers.
