In a new update, Instagram has finally brought back the chronological feed. It allows users to arrange or display the latest posts of the accounts they follow in reverse chronological order.

How to get Instagram chronological Feed?

In this article, we have listed the step-by-step guide for using the chronological feed. But before that, you need to update the app if you have not done it already. Here’s how you can do it.

  • First of all, open Google Play Store or App Store on your device.
  • Search for Instagram and hit enter.
  • Now, if you are seeing the update button, tap on it to download the latest version of the app.
  • Once updated, open the Instagram App on your Android or iOS device.
  • Click on the Instagram logo, and a drop-down menu will appear. 

Voila, now you are eligible to use this feature. The drop-down menu consists of two sections: Following and Favourites. Moving below, let us discuss it briefly.

Following Tab

This tab allows you to navigate through all the posts of your followers in reverse chronological order. That means the posts will be aligned in a timeline with the latest one on the top and the older one stacking up as you scroll down.

The biggest benefit of this feature is that there will be no unusual ads or promoted posts popping up on your following feed.

Favorites tab

It works the same as the Following Tab. As the name suggests, it allows you to select up to 50 followers and separate new tab.

Adding People to Instagram Favourites Tab

  • Launch Instagram on your Android or iOS device.
  • Tap on the Instagram logo in the top left corner. A drop-down menu will appear. select on favorites option.
  • It will redirect you to a new page. Tap on Add favorites, now add users from the list available and click on confirm favorites to save it.

Note: it recommends some accounts to add to your Favorites list from users you interact with most.

Now onwards, you will be able to see the posts of your friends and family that you have added to your Favorites list.

Can I set Favorites as the default feed?

No, the platform does not allow to set Favorites (chronological) and Following tabs as the default feed. As of now, the default feed will continue to be “Home” with algorithmically picked posts and suggested posts when you run out of posts from accounts you follow.

How to add users to the Favorites list?

You can easily add users to the Chronological (favorites) feed. To do so, click on the Instagram logo at the top of the homepage and tap Favorites then click on Add Favorites. Search for the account you want to add then tap on Add icon next to the user’s name. Finally, click on Confirm Favorites to add them.
