Google Pixel 6a Review
Google Pixel 6a is a good smartphone and is worth buying if you only want a Google smartphone. The phone has its Pros from good cameras, dual stereo speakers, and an IP67 Rating. However, considering the price, it’s not up to the mark and it’s an overpriced phone.
There is no doubt that the Pixel phones take better images than any other Android smartphone but considering the price, it misses out on many features. Also, it’s not for gaming.
At the end of the day, if you want to buy a phone with Stock Android and good cameras then you can buy the Pixel 6a otherwise just skip it as it’s made for techies.
Let’s go deeper and see what Google has offered in its Google Pixel 6a smartphone.
Display
The smartphone features a 6.1-inches FHD+ OLED Display with 2400 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 60Hz Refresh Rate. It further has 429 PPI pixel density, 20:9 Aspect Ratio, and HDR Support.
Now, at this price, Google should have provided a 120Hz Panel but Google has provided only a 60Hz Refresh Rate which is not acceptable.
Google has also added Widevine L1 support to the phone which means you can stream FHD+ content on OTT apps like Amazon Prime Videos, Netflix, etc.
The device has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection on the front while the back panel and frame of the phone are made out of plastic. Here, Google should have provided the Glass back but they didn’t, which is not good.

As the phone has an OLED Panel, hence Google has added an In-Display fingerprint scanner to unlock the device using fingerprints.
The Google Pixel 6a also has an IP67 Water Resistant Rating which protects the phone against immersion in water up to 1 meter in depth for up to 30 minutes.
Overall, the display of the phone is good but it’s not made for gaming. So, if you are looking for a gaming smartphone then you can skip this phone.
Cameras
The Google Pixel 6a has a dual rear camera setup that houses a 12.2MP primary lens with f/1.7 aperture that has OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and a 12MP ultrawide angle lens with f/2.2 aperture.
There is an 8MP Selfie Camera Lens with an f/2.0 aperture in the punch-hole design display. The rear camera can record up to 4k videos at 60fps while the front camera can record up to 1080p videos at 30fps.
Now, this is where you don’t need to go with the numbers as it captures good images and the images looks very close to natural.
The phone also has OIS which stables the cameras and it really helps the phone in stabilizing the videos, you can even record 4k videos without any issues.

The Pixel 6a also has a night mode which really works well and the images and videos come out very well even in a very dark place.
Overall, the cameras of the phone are great and you will not face any kind of issues with it.
Performance
Under the hood, the device is powered by Google’s custom-built Tensor Processor which is paired with Arm Mali-G78 MP20 GPU for graphics. The device runs on Stock Android 12 OS out of the box.
Google has also promised to provide 3 OS updates and 5 years of security updates on the phone.
For the unaware, Google Tensor is not made by Google, it’s an Exynos 2100 chipset. Google has just made some improvements on top of that. Still, you will not face any kind of issue while playing games or using them in day-to-day life.
Also, the chipset is something of a mid-point between Samsung’s Exynos 2100 and the Exynos 2200.

Overall, the performance of the device is good and you will not face problems with it.
Battery
The smartphone packs a 4,410 mAh Battery with 18W Fast Charging Support. Google has not included any charger in the box, so will have to buy it separately.
Here, when most of the phones at the same price come with 65W or 80W, or even 120W fast charging support, Google has only added 18W charging support which is not acceptable. Also, there is no wireless charging support.
Overall, the battery will last for a day if you are a normal user but if you are a heavy user then you will have to charge it twice a day.
Audio
The device comes with Dual Stereo Speakers which provide you with good quality audio. It also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone which helps you during calls.
The Google Pixel 6a does not have a 3.5 mm Headphone Jack to plug your wired earphones. So, if you wired earphones you either have to buy a Type-C to 3.5 mm dongle or wireless earphones.
Overall, the device had good sound quality and you will not face any issues while taking calls too.
